Countably compact groups satisfying the open mapping theorem

We discuss the structure and Cartesian products of the countably compact groups G that satisfy the following forms of the open mapping theorem: (a) every continuous surjective homomorphism G→H is open, (b) every continuous isomorphism G→H is open (in both cases H is a Hausdorff topological group).
