Abstract :
The genome sequence carries information about life as an order of four bases. It is considered that this order indicates a special code structure. In this paper we discuss how the mutual entropy, the main concept in Shannonʹs communication theory, can be used to study genome sequences, and how a measure introduced in our previous paper [10] for the analysis of similarities of code structures is applied for examining the coding structure of several species, in particular, HIV-1.
