Improving science applications to coastal management

In considering the promise that new technologies and science bring to responsible stewardship of the worldʹs oceans, coasts and fisheries, this paper focuses on three applications: the draft International Plan of Action to Improve Status and Trends Reporting, developed by the FAO Advisory Committee on Fisheries Research; the Global Ocean Observing System; and the US-led international initiative “Geographic Information for Sustainable Development”.
