Abstract :
In this paper we discuss the question: What should be done about the excessive illegal immigration from Mexico to the United States? In addressing this problem, we used the Analytic Network Process (ANP) to create a decision model specific to this issue. A large range of economical, social, political, and environmental factors were considered in regard to six different proposed alternatives. This information was then weighed, compared, and evaluated to determine what effect it would have on the stakeholders involved. Our results are a direct product of the information we entered into the model, and reflect our perception of the current immigration situation. In support of our conclusions, the favored alternatives resulting from our model do reflect the current policies gaining strength in the House/Senate. In the future, if the factors surrounding this issue should change, our model can be easily adapted to yield more contemporary results.
