Abstract :
This study has been conducted to review the role of smart schools in educational progress and motivation of students. This study is of applied and casual-comparative (ex post facto) type. Statistical population of this study includes all sixth grade primary school female students in Tabriz city. Sampling method was of cluster type. The samples of the study were selected by statistical power formula for comparing two groups and it consists of 61 students from smart schools (intervention group) and same number, that is 61 students, from normal schools (comparison group). The information relating students’ educational motivation were collected by Harter’s scale (1981), and their educational progress grades were calculated based on average scores at the end of the academic year. Sub-scales stability coefficient was calculated to be between 0.54 and 0.84 using Kuder-Richardson-20 formula. In order to make sure about validity of the questionnaire, experts’ opinions were used. Results from the study hypotheses showed that statistically there is a meaningful difference in educational progression and external motivation between students from smart schools and those from normal schools. But no meaningful difference in internal motivation was observed among students from smart schools and normal schools.
