Abstract :
The aim of the present research is to comparatively investigate the attachment styles, irrational beliefs and self-esteem of the runaway and normal girls. For this purpose, 60, 18-25 year-old girls were chosen as subjects. From among this number, as many as 30 runaway girls, living at health home centers of Tehran were chosen through available sampling and as many as 30 normal girls who were matched with the runaway girls in terms of age, education, and economic status were chosen through simple random method. In order to statistically investigate the data, the independent t test was applied. Findings revealed that there is no significant difference between the runaway and non-runaway girls in terms of ambivalent and avoidant attachment styles. Normal girls are more than the runaway girls belonged to a safe attachment style. There is a significant difference between the two groups in terms of irrational beliefs and self-esteem.
