Abstract :
The aim of the present research was to compare the personality characteristics and emotional intelligence between normal people and addicts. The universe under study included addicts that had consulted one of the methadone treatment centers for drug abandonment in the city of Ghorveh (Nikoosalamat) and normal people who are residents to the city in the year 2013. The sample size of 100 people (50 addicts and 50normal people) was selected through the random sampling. To collect data, the Bar-on emotional intelligence and the NEO five factor personality test were applied. For analyzing the data, the t test was used. Findings revealed that there is a difference among the normal and addicted people in terms of personality characteristics and emotional intelligence.
