Abstract :
Highly basic tris(diethylamino)-N-methylphosphazene was used for mono- and difluoromethylation of diethyl N-acetylaminomalonate by CH2BrF or CHClF2 in dichloromethane at −40°C. Acidic hydrolysis of fluoromethylated products afforded fluoro- and difluoroalanine, respectively.
