Preparations and reactions of β-fluoro-substituted vinamidinium salts

The preparations and reactions of 1,5-diaza-1,3-pentadienium (vinamidinium) salts bearing a fluoro, polyfluoroalkoxy, and trifluoromethyl group at the β position are described, demonstrating that these salts are useful building blocks for the regio- and/or stereoselective synthesis of a variety of organofluorine compounds.
