Abstract :
Ethyl 3-aryl and 3-alkyl-2-(trifluoromethylthio)acrylates as well as 2-(trifluoromethylthio)acrylate (3) are readily prepared by the Knoevenagel condensation of ethyl (trifluoromethylthio)acetate (2) with aldehydes under mild conditions.
