Abstract
(CF3)2BNMe2 reacts with CF3(CF2)nI/tetrakisdimethylaminoethylene (TDAE) to form the dimethylamine boranes CF3(CF2)n(CF3)2B·NHMe2 (n=1 (2), 3 (3)). Reacting C2F5I with Br2BNMe2 and TDAE, (C2F5)3B·NHMe2 (4) was obtained in low yield. Compounds 2–4 react with ozone in CsOH solution to form the corresponding nitroborates
(CF2)n(CF3)2BNO2] (2a), (3a) and Cs[(C2F5)3BNO2] (4a). The structure of 4a has been determined by X-ray diffraction.
