Abstract :
New 2,2-difluoro 2-halo-1-furan-2-yl ethanones (1a–c) were synthesized by two different methods. The Reformatsky reactions of 2,2-difluoro-2-halo-1-furan-2-yl ethanones with various aldehydes using indium metal in aqueous media gave α,α-difluoro-β-hydroxy ketones (4a–j).
