Thermodynamic and other physical properties of several hydrofluoro-compounds

Reported here are several physical properties of the following hydrofluoro-compounds: (1) hydrofluoropolyethers (HFPE) of general formulae: HF2CO(CF2O)n(CF2CF2O)mCF2H; (2) an experimental (HFPE) sample: CH3O(CF2O)n(CF2CF2O)mCH3; (3) a linear hydrofluorocarbon (HFC): CF3CHFCHFCF2CF3; a cyclic HFC: c-CF2CF2CF2CHFCH2; hydrofluoroethers (HFE): C4F9OCH3, C4F9OC2H5 and C7F15OC2H5. operties of the HFPE series are monotonic functions of molecular weight M. Some of the properties of the HFC and HFE samples differ substantially from the molecular weight dependence shown by the HFPE series, indicating that the overall number and geometry of the H substitution, as well as the molecular geometry of the sample, could perhaps play some role in the control of physical properties.
