Abstract :
The transformation of the bridging linkage in 1,1,2,2,9,9,10,10-octafluoro[2.2]paracyclophane (AF4) has been investigated. Mg-promoted defluorinative silylation of AF4 gave 2,9,9,10,10-pentafluoro-1-trimethylsilyl[2.2]paracyclophan-1-ene, whose structure was confirmed by X-ray crystallography.
