Abstract
For more than a decade Israeli civilian shelters are constructed as part of the dwelling apartments and houses and therefore their inner coating should comply with the requirements of their peace time usage. Yet, interior plaster coating of a protective wall seems to contradict the requirements of scabbing prevention. An experimental study of the problem under impact conditions was described in a previous paper. This paper focuses on another possible mode of damage, associated with shearing of the plaster layer. This type of failure can be caused especially when the plaster-coated wall is loaded by distributed over-pressure and so the current study, described here, was carried out through static bending tests of plaster-coated specimens with an aim to examine the influence of internal shear stresses associated with the curvature induced by its bending under external overpressure.
