Abstract
To characterize the time and temperature dependent mechanical behaviour of laminated glass with an ionomer interlayer, an experimental program was executed on full-scale glass laminates. The results of this research improved the insight in the visco-elastic behaviour of such stiff interlayer materials. More specifically, a clear influence of load duration and temperature was observed for both creep and relaxation setups during bending and torsion experiments. Additionally, the experiments demonstrate that the stiffness of a glass/ionomer laminate is also highly dependent on the geometry and the loading situation of the element. The experimental results must therefore always be expertly extrapolated.
