Abstract :
Pavement straw composite fibers (PSCFs) were independently developed and synthesized from agriculture waste straw and modified bentonite. The high temperature stability, low-temperature crack resistance, and moisture susceptibility of stone matrix asphalt SMA with PSCF were evaluated. The technical indexes of PSCF satisfied the requirements of SMA mixture and were superior to those of the traditional lignocelluloses. The performance indexes of SMA including mixture stability, Marshall modulus, residual stability, bending stiffness modulus, and dynamic stability were assessed to determine the optimum content (0.28%) of PSCF in asphalt mixture. The effect of mixing technology on the performance of asphalt mixture was evaluated.
