The first total synthesis of (±)-grimaldone

The first total synthesis of (±)-grimaldone, a tricyclic sesquiterpene containing three contiguous quaternary carbon atoms, and (±)-epigrimaldone along with (±)-α-cuparenone starting from Hagemann’s ester is described.
