Abstract :
Ytterbium triflate catalyzes the hydrolysis of tritylamines and trityloxy compounds to the corresponding amines and alcohols under mild conditions in high yields. The reactions are conducted in tetrahydrofuran in the presence of 1 equivalent of water.
