Abstract :
A Lewis acid-catalyzed, regiospecific opening of vinyl epoxides to β-hydroxy allyl-ethers was performed using equimolar quantities of both alcohols and oxiranes. BF3·Et2O proved to be the most efficient catalyst for various substituted alcohols.
