Abstract :
α-Phenylsulfanylacetamides are fluorinated in the α-position when treated with difluoroiodotoluene (DFIT) in a fluoro-Pummerer reaction. For N-phenyl amides an intramolecular Friedel–Crafts reaction may compete and produce heterocycles.
