Abstract :
Oligophenylenevinylene derivatives substituted with long alkyl chains on one end and a carboxylic acid function on the other end have been prepared and the dimeric polycatenar calamitic supramolecules resulting from hydrogen bonding of their acid functions show columnar liquid crystalline phases.
