Abstract :
A ruthenium tetraoxide catalyzed degradation of apicidinʹs tryptophan indole provided access to two useful carboxylic acid homolog intermediates. The synthesis of a series of potent and/or selective ketone homologs and 2-arylindoles derived from apicidin is described.
