Abstract :
Treatment of cycloalkanones, each bearing β-iodo α,β-unsaturated ester or nitrile side chains, with tributyltin hydride and AIBN effected a 1,5-hydrogen atom transfer/radical cyclization sequence to afford the fused- or spiro-cyclic ketones.
