Abstract :
Two new coordination cages 1a,b were prepared via metal-directed self-assembly of the tetrakis(benzonitrile) cavitands 2a,b with Pt(dppp)(CF3SO3)2. Their large portals allow fast exchange on the NMR timescale of encapsulated counterions or guests with solvent molecules.
