Abstract :
β-Correction spectrophotometry was used for determination of Zr based on its formed complex with Alizarin Red S (ARS). The reaction of Zr and ARS was developed in strongly acidic solution. The determination of trace amounts of Zr in various matrixes (river, tap and industrial wastewater) was investigated by β-correction spectrophotometry using this reaction. The results showed that Beerʹs law was obeyed over the concentration range of 1–17 μg ml−1 of Zr. The detection limit is 0.63 μg ml−1and the sensitivity; precision and accuracy of the method are all satisfactory.
