Abstract
This paper presents a theoretical model for a guideway suspension bridge that is crossed by the urban maglev vehicle when subjected to gusty winds. By combining the eleven-DOF maglev vehicle model and the modal properties of the guideway bridge, the coupled equations of motion are derived. The governing equations are solved in a time domain using the simulated rail roughness and wind fluctuation velocities. Numerical simulations of the maglev vehicle running on the guideway suspension bridge revealed that the vibrations of the vehicle are sensitively affected by its speed and by wind forces because of the strong vehicle-bridge interaction. The ride quality of the maglev vehicle can be diminished by the low frequency vibrations induced by the guideway bridge as well as by turbulent wind.
