Abstract :
Potassium 2,3,4-trihydroxy-2-methylbutanoate (1) was idetified as a leaf-closing substance of a nyctinastic plant, Leucaena leucocephalam. Compound 1 was quite effective for the leaf-closing of L. leucocephalam at 1×10−6 M.
