An efficient method for preparing fully O-silylated pyranoses conformationally restricted in the unusual 1C4-form

An efficient method for preparing fully O-silylated pyranoses, which are conformationally restricted in the unusual 1C4-form, was developed. Thus, successive treatment of pyranosides, such as xylose and glucose derivatives, with NaH and TIPSOTf or TBSOTf in THF at room temperature gave the corresponding fully O-silylated products.
