Synthesis of new C60 derivatives containing biologically active 4-aryl-1,4-dihydropyridines

Water-soluble pyrrolidino[3,4:1,2][60]fullerene derivatives bearing the biologically active 1,4-dihydropyridine (1,4-DHP) system have been synthesized through different chemical approaches depending upon the linkage position of the fulleropyrrolidine to the 1,4-DHP ring.
