Abstract :
Reaction of β-cyclodextrin alcoholate with meso-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrin under mild conditions afforded a hydrophilic cyclodextrin–porphyrin conjugate in 14% yield. The conjugate showed a marked tendency to form chiral assemblies in aqueous solutions. Photoinduced electron transfer, occurring within the conjugate monomer or aggregate, between the porphyrin moiety and a guest molecule accommodated in the cyclodextrin cavity was investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy.
