Electro-optical triple-channel sensing of metal cations via multiple signalling patterns

We described two molecular systems containing tricyanovinyl dyes as signalling subunits and crown ether macrocycles as binding sites, which act as triple-channel sensing receptors. Signalling was observed through UV–vis, fluorescence and electro-chemical measurements. With these three techniques sensing of certain metal cations was achieved via multiple signalling patterns.
