Abstract :
A series of chiral donor-π-acceptor chromophores with potential for nonlinear optical activity has been synthesised utilising a donor derived from l-proline as the source of chirality. The compounds feature both organic and organometallic acceptor end groups and were assessed for second harmonic generation by the Kurtz powder technique and in one case by hyper-Raleigh scattering.
