  • Abstract
    Treatment of several carbonyl compounds with excess strong base and diethyl phosphorochloridite results in formation of two carbonphosphorus bonds at the α carbon. Oxidation of the immediate product with H2O2 affords the corresponding α,α-bisphosphonate in moderate to very good yields.
