Abstract :
Mn0.9Y0.1Co2O4 spinel coatings are developed for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) alloy interconnects by a novel powder reduction technique. Material properties, electrical performance and long-term stability of the coatings are explored. The coating is about 9 μm in thickness and adheres well to the alloy substrate without any cracking or delamination. The area specific resistance (ASR) remains almost unchanged and is less than 3 mΩ cm2 even though the coated alloy undergoes oxidation at 800 °C for 1017 h and ten thermal cycles from 800 °C to room temperature. The coated alloy presents excellent electrical performance and long-term stability. It exhibits a promising prospect for the practical application of SOFC alloy interconnect.
