An alternative explanation for the unusual voltammetric behavior of a novel viologen derivative

An investigation using a new preparation of N-ethyl-N′-(5-trimethylammoniumpentyl) viologen makes it likely that the compound is reduced electrochemically in two one-electron steps similarly to other viologens.
