Abstract
The growth mode of sapphyrin deposited on a gold substrate by the Langmuir–Blodgett technique has been studied by scanning tunneling microscopy. The results suggest that the efficiency of the LB deposition is low during the first dippings and it increases after the completion of the first monolayer. The tilt angle formed by the molecules with the substrate has been evaluated as a function of coverage. Scanning tunneling spectroscopy characterization suggests an electronic interaction with the substrate which is important for potential applications.
