Comment on the paper by Y. Miyake, K. Shimomura, A.P. Mills Jr., J.P. Marangos, K. Nagamine “Thermionic emission of hydrogen isotopes (Mu, H, D and T) from W and interpretation of a role of the hot W as an atomic hydrogen source”

We present a scanning tunneling microscopy study of incommensurate lattice formation in chemisorbed chlorine and iodine layers on Cu(1 1 1) under ultrahigh vacuum conditions. For halogen layers the transition from commensurate phase Cu(1 1 1)–(√3×√3)R30°-Hal to incommensurate one was found to pass through continuous development of striped domain walls separating the (√3×√3)R30° domains.
