Abstract :
Compressive creep curves for Mg alloys AE42 and AZ91 at 150, 200 and 250 °C were mathematically described and the parameters were determined. Modeling was carried out using three relationships describing separately the three stages (primary, secondary and tertiary) of the creep curve. The combination of these three relationships provides a model that describes well the whole creep curve. The creep behavior of a Mg alloy reinforced with short fibers was numerically determined using simple idealization of the composite material. The material law parameters of the matrix alloy were applied, while the fibers were considered as elastic bodies. Finite element simulation showed satisfactory agreement with the experimental results.
