Abstract
Generalized composite theories for effective elastic response of heterogeneous materials are well established in the literature. An important component of these theories is the concept of a localization tensor that relates the local elastic stress at the microscale to the macroscale (averaged) strain imposed on the composite. In this paper, we present a novel approach for expressing the localization tensors for polycrystalline materials in an efficient spectral framework that can be calibrated to results from finite element models. The proposed approach is critically validated through selected case studies in polycrystalline copper.
