Abstract
We first investigate the existence of gaps and defect states in the band structure of a quasi-one-dimensional electronic comb composed of a monomode electronic waveguide (the ‘backbone’) with stars of N′ side branches (the ‘resonators’) grafted at N equidistant sites. Then, we consider the tunneling between two monomode quantum wires through a coupling device made of defective comb-like waveguides. We give the conditions for selective transfer of a single propagating electron from one wire to the other, leaving all the other neighbor states unaffected.
