Abstract
The Al–Sb–Zn ternary phase diagram was calculated from thermodynamic Gibbs energies using the CALPHAD method and experimentally investigated using differential thermal analysis (DTA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and a Calvet-type micro-calorimeter. An SSOL4 thermodynamic database was used for the thermodynamic predictions. A scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with an energy-dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analyses were used to confirm the predicted phase diagram. Good agreement was found between the experimental results and the predictions.
