  • Abstract
To understand the effects of the fiber orientation and fiber aspect ratio on the tensile strength of Csf/Mg composites, several different representative volume units were generated by using the random sequential adsorption algorithm. And the longitudinal elastic modulus and stress–strain responses of Csf/Mg composites were predicted by finite element method. The results showed that the angles between the fiber orientation and applied load played a significant role on the properties improvement of Csf/Mg composites. The tensile strength of Csf/Mg composites gradually decreased with the fiber orientation angle increasing from 0° to 60° and slightly increased with the fiber orientation angle increasing from 60° to 90°. Furthermore, the effect of length-to-radius ratio on the properties improvement was also investigated. The tensile strength of Csf/Mg composites was improved apparently with the length-to-radius ratio increasing until 20, after which the tensile strength of Csf/Mg composites was improved without significance.
