Abstract :
Adsorption isotherms of C(CH3)4 on uniform MgO(1 0 0) surface have been measured in a wide range of temperature 190⩽T⩽273 K and a coverage corresponding to the two first layering transitions. A detailed study of the first transition is performed. Heat of adsorption, two-dimensional critical temperature and other experimental values of thermodynamic quantities are reported and compared to those related to C(CH3)4 adsorbed on graphite and boron nitride. On the other hand some structural investigations are given to support the thermodynamic analysis.
