Abstract
Since the mid-1900ʹs, synthetic adhesives have dominated adhesive usage in furniture production. They are highly developed materials, each engineered to perform a particular operation, be it jointing, veneering or edgebanding. Their excellent inherent properties have resulted not only in improved bond quality and durability, but also have allowed a more efficient use of wood — an increasingly scarce resource — and the employment of automatic, high-speed processes for furniture manufacture.
