Abstract
The thermal lattice expansion behavior of BaCe1−xYbxO3−δ (x=0–0.2) has been examined under dry and humidified conditions. The variation of expansion of the samples with x=0.1 showed marked elongation by the incorporation of water. Differentials of thermal expansion show clearly abrupt changes which correspond to structural phase transitions reported earlier. The evidence of the structural phase transformations is confirmed by the results of high-temperature powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses.
