Abstract
Electrical and electronic waste is one of the fastest-growing industrial wastes. This paper examined the silicon extracted form electronic packaging resin ash with a subsequent acidic treatment for silica nanoparticle production. The experimental results showed that sample surface characteristics were highly dependent on the sodium silicate concentration, aging temperature, aging time, gelation pH, etc. The surface areas of the silica ranged from 214 to 664 m2/g and the particle sizes ranged from 5 to 30 nm. The results of this study will provide a sensible solution for the recycling of silicon-containing industrial waste for a new value-added product.
