Abstract :
The calculated and the experimental data on the structure and the thermodynamic properties of water are analyzed in wide ranges of temperature and pressure. The conclusion is that water is a mixture of the low-density amorphous (lda) and high-density amorphous (hda) ice clusters near normal conditions with their approximate proportion of 2:3. The conclusion is supported by the results of D2O quenching under a pressure of P=1.2 GPa when the quenched product was found to be a highly disordered crystalline phase with ice-XII as a prototype.
