Abstract :
Nd2−xCexCuO4±δ materials have been produced as single phase compositions over the range 0 < x ≤ 0.2 and subsequently evaluated as SOFC cathodes on both ceria gadolinia (CGO) and lanthanum gallate (LSGM) based electrolytes. From ASR measurements it was established that the best cathode/electrolyte combination was Nd1.8Ce0.2CuO4±δ on an LSGM electrolyte. Considerable improvements to the cathode microstructure and optimization of the interface are required to produce materials competitive with existing materials.
