Abstract :
We report a study of intermediate-temperature fuel cells H2, Me/(1 − x)CsHSO4 – xSiO2/Pt, O2 (air) (x = 0.1–0.4), with different anode compositions Me. Best results were obtained for the membrane electrode assembly H2, Pd/Pd + CsHSO4/CsHSO4–SiO2/Pt + CsHSO4/Pt, O2. At T = 175 °C, the fuel cell demonstrated an open circuit voltages of 1.05 V and a maximal power density of ∼ 15 mW·cm− 2 at U = 0.5 V. Factors determining the anode and cathode polarization are discussed.
